HGTV Sets Slate of Series, Specials

Home & Garden Television will launch 16 new series and 50 specials as part of more than 1,100 hours of original programming it will air during the 2004-05 TV season, according to president Burton Jablin.

The first series out of the gate is Designer Finals, in which design students will conduct makeovers for homemakers with flexible plans and limited budgets. Hosted by Penn Holderness, the series is slated to bow Aug. 14.

Other programs expected to debut in the fourth quarter include reDesign, in which host Kenneth Brown offers his inventive yet tasteful takes on design; and Generation Renovation, which will track the remakes of older homes, lofts and condos into highly stylized personal residences.
