The History Channel will air The Guilty Men: A Historical Review Wednesday, April 7 at 8 p.m. (EST/PST), the network said Friday.
The one-hour special, hosted by former Cable News Network Washington bureau chief and White House correspondent Frank Sesno, is the network’s response to the critical feedback it received over its airing of The Guilty Men in November.
The November show presented the theory that then-Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
In A Historical Review, Sesno and three historians who were highly critical of The Guilty Men will offer their insights.
"The History Channel accepts the criticisms of these historians," the network said in a prepared statement. "After reflecting on the historians' comments and conducting its own internal review, The History Channel recognizes that The Guilty Men failed to offer viewers context and perspective and fell short of the high standards that the network sets for itself."
The network continued, "The History Channel apologizes to its viewers and to Mrs. [Lyndon B.] Johnson and her family for airing the show."
