Hughes Network Systems Inc. Wednesday announced the availability of “DIRECWAY Multimedia Services” (MMS) for businesses.
The company said the MMS services are available as a value-added option on the continentwide DIRECWAY data-over-satellite service-delivery platform.
Services HNS is now offering include corporate television, video Web conferencing, multimedia real-time distance learning, digital advertising and digital signage.
“DIRECWAY MMS gives organizations a comprehensive, one-stop solution that takes advantage of the inherent multicasting capabilities of satellites,” HNS vice president of North American marketing Emil Regard said in a prepared statement.
“It is available on our nationwide DIRECWAY service platform, enabling concurrent delivery of media-rich content targeted to specific locations without the limitations of terrestrial-based networks,” Regard added.
“DIRECWAY MMS is multicast-enabled from the start,” he continued. “Cable, DSL [digital subscriber line], frame relay and MPLS [multiprotocol label switching] solutions are not inherently multicast and cannot match DIRECWAY's high bandwidth and rich-media-streaming capabilities, necessary for the enterprise market.”
