Trinity Broadcasting Network, not above TV hype, touted new show Pastor Greg as the world’s first Christian sitcom Wednesday.
The weekly half-hour comedy focuses on the comings and goings of a former gambling, drinking, womanizing reprobate who “sees the light” and answers the call to pastor a small church in a small town. Pastor Greg unwittingly stirs things up in trying to win over the feisty congregation and quirky staff, according to TBN.
Pastor Greg, played by actor/writer/director Greg Robbins of Cornerstone Television Network and Uplifting Entertainment, slowly wins over his congregation.
“This isn’t hard-sell religion by any means,” said Robbins, who is now writing, producing and filming the second season of the comedy. “This is a weekly window into the world of a small group of believers who are learning how to be real and transparent -- to let their hair down, so to speak.”
