Nickelodeons Aug. 8 special of its hit tween series iCarly drew a series record 7.9 million viewers, according to the network.
The special, iFight Shelby Marx, bested the 7.6 million viewers posted by the Nov 8, 2008 iCarly special iGo To Japan.
iFight, in which series star Carly Shey (Miranda Cosgrove) mixes it up with mixed martial arts competitor Shelby Marx (Victoria Justice), garnered a 435% increase in viewer delivery over last year and bested its closest competitor during the time period by 146%.
In key kids demos, the special averaged 4.3 million viewers in the kids 2 to 11 demo as well as 3.5 million kids 6-11 years old.
Among tweens, the telecast averaged a 3.1 million viewers --178% ahead of its nearest competitor during the same time period, according to Nickelodeon.
