ID Launching Series During National Stalking Awareness Month

‘Obsession: Dark Desires’ Set for Jan. 14 Premiere

Investigation Discovery will bow a new series next month about women who survived encounters with stalkers.

Obsession: Dark Desires, is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 10 p.m. (ET). Over the course of its 10-hour first campaign, Obsession: Dark Desires, which dramatizes real-life events, chronicles women sharing their emotional stories of survival against obsessive stalkers. The show, from October Films, is part of Investigation Discovery’s ongoing national awareness efforts  around civil rights, wrongful convictions, and violence against women under one informative and inspiring banner designed to empower viewers to make an impact in their own communities.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 6 million people are stalked every year in the United States, with the majority of cases involving someone they already know. As part of its “Inspire a Difference” public affairs initiative, Investigation Discovery has created a national PSA that will air during National Stalking Awareness Month in January in conjunction with Obsession: Dark Desires and the new season of Stalked: Someone’s Watching.

Obsession: Dark Desires reveals what happens when stalkers can’t have what – or who – they want, and stop at nothing to make sure no one else can either,” Henry Schleiff, group president of Investigation Discovery, Destination America, and Military Channel, said in a release. “With its premiere during the 11th annual National Stalking Awareness Month, we hope that Obsession can help to elevate awareness of the important issue of stalking, which has become increasingly pervasive in our society today.”
