ID Sets O.J. Simpson Docu-Series

Investigation Discovery is the latest network to explore the infamous O.J. Simpson trial with a new six part series, Is O.J. Innocent? The Missing Evidence, the network said Thursday.

The series, narrated by Martin Sheen, will premiere Jan. 15 and will follow investigators as they re-open Simpson’s 1995 trial and look at facts that were overlooked by authorities, according to network officials.

Is O.J. Innocent? The Missing Evidence follows other recent TV projects revolving around the former pro footbal star, including FX's Emmy-winning miniseries The People V. O.J. Simpson, and ESPN's docu-series OJ: Made In America.

“The prosecution of O.J. Simpson is interwoven into the fundamental cultural fabric that defines the 20th century, representing a watershed moment in our nation’s system of justice. Therefore, it may be hard for many of us to accept new theories that challenge common beliefs and perceptions held in this country,” said Henry Schleiff, Group President, Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel and Destination America in a statement. “Indeed, it is imperative to remember, however, that no one has ever been convicted of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in a court of criminal law – and, accordingly, with unprecedented access and evidence never before investigated, we offer, today, a new take on the case everyone thought they knew.”
