IFC Shows Its ‘Spirit’ Again

The Independent Film Channel will again air the “2005 IFP Independent Spirit Awards” and host the ceremony’s after-party at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, Calif.

The network will air the Spirit Awards live and uncensored at 5 p.m. (EST) Feb. 26. Commemorating achievement in independent film, the ceremony is held annually on the Saturday before the Academy Awards.

“IFC is thrilled to be so closely connected to IFP and the Independent Spirit Awards,” general manager and executive vice president Evan Shapiro said in a prepared statement.

“In addition to hosting the after-party and providing long-term sponsorship for the awards show, IFC will once again be the only network to air the awards live, uncensored and commercial-free,” he added. “The day promises to be a very special one for IFC and the independent-film community.”
