Insight Communications said its commercial-services-unit, InsightBusiness, increased the maximum speed of its high-speed-Internet service to 15 megabits per second downstream and up to 1.5 mbps upstream.
Another service level was ramped up to 10 mbps downstream and 1 mbps upstream.
The new 15-mbps service was 6 mbps downstream and 1 mbps upstream, while the 10-mbps service was 6 mbps downstream and 768 kilobits per second upstream.
Insight said the highest tier, labeled Enterprise level, compares with a maximum of 6 mbps by digital-subscriber-line providers in its Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio service areas.
InsightBusiness signed up its first customers in January, and it now claims 22,000 business customers in 13 markets. BusinessBroadband services range in price per month from $49.95-$239.95, the cable company said.
