Insight Communications has launched 50-Mbps service in three markets, Evansville, Ind., and Bowling Green, Ky., and Northern Kentucky, priced at $95 per month.
The MSO is sending invitations to upgrade to Broadband 50.0 service, which provides 5 Mbps upload speeds, to customers who have Broadband 20.0. Insight CEO Michael Willner announced the launch on his blog Friday.
"This is a really exciting announcement and it's only the beginning. Broadband 50.0 is far superior to any other generally available home Internet offerings in the area," Willner said.
Insight's pricing for high-speed Internet service tiers is: Broadband 10.0, $35; 20.0, $45; 30.0, $60; and 50.0, $95.
The MSO will make announcements about the launch of Broadband 50.0 in Louisville and Lexington "in the coming days," Willner said.
In addition, Insight will make announcements soon about other broadband offerings,
new HD channels, multiroom DVRs, and new programming on local weather
and news channel cn|2, he wrote.
