Insight Names Kelly President

Insight Communications Co. chief operating officer Kim Kelly, already the most-senior female executive among the MSO ranks, added the title of president last week. She had been executive vice president.

She also was named president and CEO of Insight Midwest L.P., the No. 9 MSO's operating subsidiary.

Michael Willner, who had been president, remains Insight's CEO and was named vice chairman, as well as chairman of Insight Midwest.

"These appointments represent a more accurate reflection of how Kim and I have worked as partners in this company for many years," Willner said in a news release. "The bottom line is that this news does not alter the way we have been running, and will continue to run, our business. It simply better reflects the operating reality of our organizational structure."

Kelly joined Insight in 1990 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. She added the title of COO in 1998 and turned CFO duties over to Dinesh Jain earlier this year.

Willner co-founded the company in 1985 with Sidney Knafel, who remains chairman.

Insight has about 1.4 million customers, concentrated in Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
