Insight's Local News Channels Hire Sports Host

Insight Communications has hired Matt Jones to host a sports show for its new local television channels.
Beginning this fall, Jones, the founder and editor of, will host a sports show on cn/2, Insight's new local channels serving the Louisville, Northern Kentucky, Lexington, Evansville and Bowling Green markets.
Jones will also serve as editor of the cn|2 Sports Web site, The site launched today.
Although it won't be affiliated with cn|2, Jones will also continue to operate

Insight Communications launched the local news and information channels across five markets in Kentucky and Indiana on June 24, though at first they will provide only 24-hour local weather coverage. Forecasts for each of the five regions are delivered by a meteorologist who provides local updates every 10 minutes.

That format will change in the fall, when Insight plans to roll out new programming focused on local news, the 2010 elections and sports.

"cn|2 was created because our customers are looking for more local, more timely, and more thorough coverage of the news that matters and opinions they trust. Providing them with compelling sports programming is key to fulfilling that mission and Matt will play a large part in that effort," said Insight director of public affairs Jason Keller in a statement.
"I am excited about the opportunity to be part of this exciting new endeavor," added Jones. "Over the years, we have attempted to cover sports on the Internet in this state in a new way, with a unique voice that appeals to the average fan. I now want to do that on television and present coverage of, and opinions on, sports in this state in ways that have never been done before in this area."
