It's not the musical, but The Inspiration Network is backing a production of
C.A.T.S. that will appear on its air, beginning in January.
This C.A.T.S.-the acronym for Christian Artist Talent Search -- will
feature 19 programs, encapsulating eight regional competitions around the
country to find 64 finalists -- soloists and groups -- in the urban gospel,
traditional contemporary Christian, southern gospel and children's musical
Inspiration has tapped Clifton Davis (NBC's Amen series, Any Given
Sunday) to host the talent search series, for which competitions are taking
place this month in Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Detroit, Tampa,
Fla., Columbus, Ohio and Nashville, Tenn.
The finalist competition will be conducted in Charlotte, with the winner
receiving a national recording contract.
C.A.T.S is slated to air Saturday nights at 10 p.m., beginning Jan.
The program will also run on the digital network, Inspiration Life
Inspiration is producing the contest in conjunction with specialty retailer
Family Christian Stores, record company Daywind Music Group and the Salem Music
Network, which counts some 230 radio affiliates.
