Intel Fund Chips In at CableMatrix

Quality-of-service-solutions vendor CableMatrix said Monday that Intel Corp.’s Intel Digital Home Fund has invested in it.

The $200 million fund targets companies developing hardware, software, connectivity and supporting technologies that enable digital content to appear on multiple devices in the home.

Veritas Venture Partners and EnerTech Capital Partners have also invested in CableMatrix.

“We recognize the increasing need for sophisticated mechanisms to ensure quality of service over shared broadband-access networks and the growth of on-demand multimedia content and applications that will require such enhancements,” Intel Capital’s Joel Fisch said in a prepared statement.

“Intel is investing in CableMatrix to aid its efforts to advance QoS solutions for the cable industry and the emerging WiMax industry and digital-home market segment,” he added.
