Internet Photonics Debuts New Gear

Internet Photonics said it has enhanced its "LightStack MX" optical-multiplexing and transport platform to the point where operators can cut video-on-demand-transport costs per stream in half.

The upgraded LightStack uses new components and precision engineering to cut costs while enhancing capacity. The technology allows operators to use scalable 10-gigabit optics to smaller hubs and removes the need to deploy a 2.5-GB system initially, IP said.

The new LightStack also has protection switching, allowing operators to put video on one channel and high-speed-data, voice-over-Internet-protocol and commercial services on another.
