INTX Adds Hackathon To Show Lineup

The National Cable & Telecommunications Association announced Wednesday that it, along with a group of partners, will host a 24-hour hackathon just prior to INTX: The Internet & Television Expo (formerly known as The Cable Show) in Chicago.

The new event, called INTXHACK, will kick off May 2, the Saturday before the show, which is set to run from May 5-7.

NCTA said INTXHACK is being produced in partnership with Comcast/NBCUniversal, Gracenote, Tribune Media and 1871, the Chicago-based entrepreneurial hub that will also host the event.

Finalists will advance to the INTXHACK Finals live at the show’s Imagine Park area on Wednesday, May 6, and will be featured at an INTX showcase exhibit.

NCTA said hackathon contestants are being encouraged to develop apps related to themes of the show, including areas such as TV Everywhere, online video, and gaming.
