Ion TV To Air 'Drew Carey Show'

Ion Television has bought the rights to air The Drew Carey Show, and will launch the sitcom with a New Year’s Eve marathon, officials said Tuesday.

Through a deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution, terms of which were not disclosed, Ion Television will kick off the show with a 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. stunt Dec. 31, and then add the sitcom to its weeknight primetime lineup beginning New Year’s Day. Airings are slated Mondays through Thursdays at 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm.

The Drew Carey Show is one of only seven network sitcoms to last nine seasons on the air.

Ion will help old and new fans of the series embrace it in a new way via contests, interactive experiences and special features.

This season, Carey has taken over the hosting duties of one of TV’s longest-running and most popular series ever, The Price Is Right, and he also hosts the new game show, The Power of 10.  He’s won three People’s Choice Awards, and has been honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
