Irdeto Names CEO

Video security specialist Irdeto has appointed Doug Lowther as CEO effective April 1, succeeding Graham Kill, who resigned last September to pursue new opportunities in the U.K.

Lowther joins Irdeto from International Datacasting Corp., where he currently serves as CEO. Before that, he spent more than Irdeto, most recently as EVP its digital TV business. He is also late of Nortel Networks.

“It is an honor for me to return to Irdeto at a time when the company holds a strong market position and is exploring many exciting areas of expansion,” Lowther said, in a statement. “Irdeto has been a highly innovative company for many years, and it has been inspiring to see that tradition continued with new offerings such as Keys and Credentials. I thank Graham for his leadership and mentorship over the years. I look forward to continuing Irdeto’s proud tradition of enabling operators and content owners to grow revenues through innovative solutions that deliver the world’s best content to any screen.”

“Doug Lowther is an accomplished and respected executive in the Digital TV industry, and one that Irdeto’s employees, customers and partners know well and trust,” Kill added. “With security at its core, Irdeto’s long-lasting and trusted relationships with customers and partners will further develop leveraging Doug’s previous experience. I am confident that under his leadership, Irdeto will continue its strong growth trajectory.”
