Amazon.com’s Amazon Unbox (www.amazon.com/unbox) digital-video service began offering Showtime fare under terms of a deal announced Wednesday.
Episodes of Showtime series including The L Word, Weeds, Sleeper Cell, Dave Chapelle's For What It's Worth, Fat Actress, Penn & Teller: BS! and Free for All will be available for $1.99 apiece.
As part of an effort to promote the availability of the Showtime content, the pilot episode of the premium network’s Dexter will be available for download for one cent.
“Showtime is always looking for creative new ways to bring our great original series to a larger audience," Showtime Networks Digital Media senior vice president and general manager Robert Hayes said in a prepared statement. "We're excited to be an early provider of premium programming for Amazon's Unbox.”
Amazon's Unbox launched in September (www.multichannel.com/article/CA6369786.html).
