Time Warner Cable Deportes has laid out its game plan for its Spanish-language coverage of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The first-ever regional sports network for the Spanish-speaking TV audience will also be the first to cover a National Basketball Association franchise with original content designed and produced exclusively for the Spanish-speaking community.
“Our commitment to Southern California’s Spanish-speaking sports community is deeply important to us,” Mark Shuken, senior vice president and GM of TWC Regional Sports Networks, said in a statement.
“We will deliver an in-depth and engaging viewing experience that deepens the connection between the Hispanic community and the Lakers.”
All home and road Lakers games televised by TWC Deportes will be produced in Spanish, with Adrián García Márquez handling play-by-play duties and Francisco Pinto taking on color commentary chores. Veteran sportscaster Ricardo Celis will host the network’s Lakers studio show.
Lakers en vivo (Lakers Live), a one-hour pregame show, will offer analysis and insight prior to every tip-off.
The postgame show, titled Somos Lakers (We Are Lakers), will offer player and coach reactions, live analysis, game recaps and opportunities for fan interaction.
Both the pregame and postgame shows will air around all Lakers games, including contests televised by national outlets.
