Interactive Video Technologies -- which provides streaming technology to Home
Box Office, Showtime Networks Inc., E! Entertainment Television and HSN --
signed a deal to use Digital Island Inc.'s integrated Web-hosting and streaming
facilities for its 'Internet Video Operating Platform.'
IVT said IVOP allows media companies to create Web sites with interactive
media elements, such as chat, polling games or streaming media. IVT will
incorporate Digital Island's 'Footprint Streaming' and 'Best Distribution
Selection' services into the IVOP platform.
Chairman Mark Lieberman says the deal allows IVT to scale the delivery of
interactive or on-demand events to thousands of users 'without melting down
every server in the process.'
