Planet Green has hired Lifetime Network's Rob Jacobson as senior vice president of marketing for the Discovery-owned network.
Reporting to president and general manager Laura Michalchyshyn, Jacobson oversees Planet Green's marketing, branding, and research strategy. Responsibilities include enhancing the brand's image and promotion through on-air and off-air channel efforts, as well as working collaboratively to extend the brand holistically to other platforms including online, VOD and mobile by focusing on linear and digital marketing, the network said.
Planet Green said that at Lifetime he developed integrated marketing communications programs as SVP and executive creative director. Planet Green credited him with overseeing the launch of top Lifetime series Army Wives. Previously, Jacobson was EVP and creative director of G-Whiz Entertainment and SVP/creative director of Ogilvy & Mather.
Planet Green is expected to unveil a slate of pilots at the Television Critics Association gathering later this month. Michalchyshyn said recently she is focused on adding more personality and narrative-driven signature shows to Planet Green.
