'Jersey Shore' Awash In 8.5 Million Viewers

The fourth episode of Jersey Shore's season in Florence registered MTV's seventh largest series audience ever.
The Aug. 25 installment averaged 8.5 million viewers in the 10 p.m. hour for MTV, a total that included an 8.1 rating among the network's broad 12-to-34 demo, equating to 6.4 million of those watchers, according to Nielsen live + same-day data.  scored the continued to perform well in the ratings, rising in its fourth episode this season.
The audience delivery jumped 8.9% from the 7.8 million viewers the week before and 11% with the demo.

A new episode of Jersey Shore will air at a special time, Sunday at 7 p.m., serving as a lead-in to the pre-show before the 2011 Video Music Awards, debuting on Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. (ET). The installment will capture tension between "The Situation" and Ronnie, while providing some answers about Mike's hospitalization during the filming of season 4.
