Job Shifts to Hit AT&T Cable HQ

AT&T Broadband has set in motion plans to reassign employees from its
headquarters in Englewood, Colo., to jobs at cable systems, sources said late
last week.

The moves -- referred to by CEO William Schleyer at an investors' conference
last month -- are said to be happening within days.

It was unclear how many employees at MSO headquarters are affected. AT&T
has about 6,000 Colorado employees, including system-level people, who will not
be affected.

Employees were offered severance packages if they declined reassignment,
sources said, and one source said most were likely to take the package and leave
the company.

A company official declined comment Friday.

AT&T Broadband was cutting staff even before deciding to merge with
Comcast Corp. The MSO eliminated 12,000 jobs last year, and it employs about
40,000 overall.
