‘Jon & Kate’ Establishes Brood Of Series Ratings Marks


TLC set a host of series ratings records with a Jon & Kate + 8 installment Monday night.

The 9:30 p.m. episode, entitled ‘Cooking with the Twins,’ garnered a series best 2.19 household rating, 2.1 million households and 2.95 million viewers.

Now in its second campaign, the show, which migrated from Discovery Health to TLC,  follows the 

Gosselins -- Jon, Kate, their twin six-year-olds and two-year-old sextuplets -- and the couple’s attempts to construct a normal, happy childhood for their brood..

The episode, in which the two older girls are schooled in a young chef’s academy and the younger six contract the flu, also set a number of demo marks. It averaged a 1.5 rating and1.61 million adult 25-to-54 viewers and a 1.5 rating and 1.69 million 18-to-49 watchers, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Among women 25 to 54, the show garnered a 2.18 rating and almost 1.19 million viewers, as well as a 2.15 rating and 1.23 million females 19 to 49. On the male side of the Nielsen ledger, the count was an 0.82 ratinng, the equivalent of 430,000 men 25 to 54, and a 0.84 average and 466,000 men 18 to 49.

TLC officials said the show ranked first in all of ad-supported cable in the two women demos on March 10.
