June Booms for FX, TNN, BET

FX, Black Entertainment Television and TNN: The National Network scored major
demographic gains in primetime during June, according to a Cabletelevision
Advertising Bureau analysis of Nielsen Galaxy Explorer data.

Boosted by National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing-related
programming, FX registered triple-digit gains in primetime among four major demo
groups in June, according to the CAB analysis of data tracking the periods of
May 28 through July 1 of this year and May 29 through July 2, 2000.

The general-entertainment network registered a 112 percent jump to 451,000
among persons 18+ last month from 213,000 the prior year. Men 18 through 34
soared 127 percent to 127,000 last month from 56,000, while males 25 through 54
grew 138 percent to 305,000. Elsewhere, FX notched a 107 percent advance to
492,000 among persons 25 through 54.

Bolstered in large part by its World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc.
coverage, TNN also scored major gains among young viewers. The Viacom Inc.-owned
channel recorded a 200 percent surge this past June among men 18 through 34 to
156,000 and a 166 percent increase to 242,000 with persons 18 through 34. Among
persons 25 through 54, TNN saw viewership leap 74 percent to 475,000 in June
2001, as well as expanding 94 percent among men 25 through 54 to 299,000.

For its part, BET posted a 108 percent improvement to 206,000 among persons
18 through 34, according to the CAB analysis. BET's growth was with both
genders, as the network scored a 127 percent amelioration among men 18 through
34 to 82,000 and an 80 percent increase to 124,000 among women 18 through
34.

BET, which is also part of Viacom's holdings, also benefited from a 108
percent gain to 281,000 among persons 25 through 54. A further breakdown showed
that the African-American-skewing network posted increases of 128 percent and 96
percent among men and women 25 through 54 to 121,000 and 161,000, respectively,
during June.
