Juniper Offers VoIP Protection

Juniper Networks Inc. debuted its “Cable Dynamic Threat Mitigation” solution Monday.

The vendor said the solution will enable cable operators to protect voice-over-Internet-protocol and Session-Initiation-Protocol services against network security attacks.

Juniper added that the system works with any PacketCable Multimedia-compliant cable-modem-termination system, integrating the vendor's routing platforms, “Intrusion Detection and Prevention” devices and “SDX Service Deployment System” and enabling MSOs to quickly and effectively identify and isolate security threats so that infected customers and operations staff can be notified.

In addition to VoIP, Cable Dynamic Threat Mitigation can be extended to provide security for SIP-based services such as online gaming, videoconferencing, instant messaging and push-to-talk services.
