Karate Kid to Develop Shows for The N


The N, the nighttime network for teens, has signed a development deal with actor-director Ralph Macchio, who will be creating a drama about two runaway girls, officials said Tuesday.

“We are honored to be working with Ralph on this new project,” Amy Friedman, The N’s senior vice president of development, said in a prepared statement. “As a father of a teenager and an icon in the teen landscape, he truly understands how to tell meaningful stories to this audience.”

Macchio (The Karate Kid) will also be a part of the of the upcoming new DVD release of The Outsiders -- The Complete Novel, Francis Ford Coppola’s new version of his 1983 film adaptation of the S.E. Hinton bestseller. Macchio was part of the original cast, which also included Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Diane Lane, Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze.
