Just a day after Katy Perry's ratings-busting half-time performance in Super Bowl XLIX, premium network Epix announced it will premiere on March 28 a two-hour concert special featuring the pop star on her Prismatic World Tour.
Perry's elaborately staged Super Bowl show, which featured rocker Lenny Kravitz and hip-hop artist Missy Elliott, garnered a 50.8 overnight rating, up 5% from last year’s halftime festivities with Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Epix will bow its recently filmed special, Katy Perry: The Prismatic World Tour, during its upcoming free preview weekend, March 26-29, which will be carried by Verizon FiOS, AT&T U-Verse and other EPIX affiliates.
The special will be available to suscribers across all Epix platforms, the network said, including on air, online, on demand and via the Epix app, while non-subscribers will be able to watch online at Epix.com, via the Epix app and in markets where the free preview is offered. Additionally, the March 28 premiere of the concert film will be available as a free live stream via the official Epix and Katy Perry Facebook pages.
Mark Greenberg, president and CEO of Epix, said the special is consistent with the network's aim to provide viewers "with front row access to the most exciting music concerts touring the globe today."
"Katy put so much into this show," Greenberg added. "Her explosive performances, fiery artistry and fun sense of style never fail to delight audiences. Showcasing talent of this caliber is what Epix is all about."
Epix, a joint venture between Viacom, Lionsgate and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, is available to more than 50 million homes nationwide.
The original Epix special was directed by Russell Thomas and produced by Done + Dusted with Katy Perry and Direct Management Group. Ross Bernard was the executive producer for Epix, with Valerie Bishop as associate producer and Lauren Zucker as the consulting producer.
