Comedy Central’s Emmy-nominated sketch comedy series Key & Peele will end its run in September after five seasons.
The series, starring Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, will end after its fifth season which launched earlier this month and concludes in September, according to reports. On Saturday Peele tweeted: “Don’t Miss the last 8 episodes!”
In an interview with TheWrap, Key explained that the move was initiated by the comedians and not Comedy Central, adding that it was “time to explore other things, together and apart.”
The series launched in 2012 and spawned several memorable characters, including Key’s portrayal of Luther, an “angry translator” for Peele’s impression of President Barack Obama.
Key & Peele was recently nominated for seven Emmy Awards, including “Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.”
