Knology Inc., the West Point, Ga.-based cable overbuilder, will donate $10 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts for each new subscriber it signs on, it said Friday.
The company will also match any donations made by its employees dollar for dollar, officials said in a statement. The company also plans to set up collection posts to gather bottled water, food, clothing and other supplies, and will offer free high-speed Internet and TV connections to shelters.
“Like the rest of the nation, we are overwhelmed by the enormous devastation that this storm left behind,” Knology vice president of marketing Mark Roddy said in a prepared statement. “With divisions located throughout the Southeast, we have the opportunity to assist the Red Cross directly, but we are also able to help the thousands of refugees that have moved in search of shelter and protection.”
