Insight TV, a channel focused on sports, entertainment and lifestyle programming, said it has landed a 4K distribution deal with Layer3 TV, the Denver-based MVPD.
Insight TV billed this as its first 4K UHD distribution deal in the U.S. Insight TV is also part of a lineup of channels that SES is delivering for its 4K trails with several cable operators, telcos and IPTV service providers. Insight TV shows include sports reality series such as Running The World, adventure gameshow No Time To Lose, and sci-tech series Extraordinary Humans.
Layer3 TV, which uses only 4K-capable boxes, is offering Insight TV on channel 115 in a list of launch markets that includes Chicago; Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles; Dallas; and Denver (Longmont), with New York among those that are next in line.
Layer3 TV also carries a 4K version of NASA TV, and has offered several events in the format, including Fox Sports’ 4K college football coverage, and the Bellator NYC mixed martial arts fight night in June. Layer3 TV estimates that more than half its subs have watched live or VOD content in 4K.
