Conviva said it has won a deal to provide real-time audience and quality reporting for Horizon Go, Liberty Global’s TV Everywhere app for PCs, tablets and smartphones.

In addition to providing multiscreen access to live and on-demand in and out of the home, the Horizon Go app also doubles as a virtual remote control for boxes that run Liberty Global’s next-gen Horizon TV platform.

Liberty Global has already deployed Horizon Go in seven European countries, with more on tap, said Conviva, which is providing the MSO with a granular look at the customer viewing experience, identifying potential issues that could cause buffering. Conviva’s system matches the real-time data it collects with conditions occurring on the Internet and uses a predictive algorithm to avoid traffic jams and to find the most optimal path for streaming video.

“Horizon Go users have high expectations for the Quality of Experience the platform will provide as they navigate and discover new content,” said Ian Franklyn, General Manager, EMEA for Conviva. “When looking to deliver high quality video to a large audience across several countries and devices, it is critical content providers have real-time visibility and control of the video delivery and viewer experience. Conviva provides the basis to scale a high-quality Internet TV business with up-to-the second visibility into the video delivery chain,” said Ian Franklyn, general manager of the EMEA region for Conviva, in a statement.

Among other recent wins, EchoStar Technologies is using Conviva's video optimization platform in support of two Dish Network video streaming products – Dish Anywhere, the satellite TV giant’s TVE platform, and Dish World, Dish’s OTT international sports subscription service.

Other Conviva customers include ESPN, NBCUniversal, HBO, Viacom, Virgin Media, DirecTV, Starz, and Verizon Communications, among others.
