Liberty Reups with Arris

Arris Group Inc. said Liberty Media Corp. has signed a new three-year global-purchase agreement covering a host of products for Liberty's international cable systems, which pass 25 million homes.

The deal covers Arris' “Cadant C3” and “C4” cable-modem-termination systems; “Cornerstone” and “Touchstone” customer-premises voice and data equipment, including E-MTAs (embedded multimedia-terminal adapters), voice ports and cable modems; TeleWire's hybrid fiber-coaxial infrastructure products; Arris' digital multimedia-termination system; and partner products from Alopa Networks Inc., Ellacoya Networks and Nuera Communications Inc.

"Our successful experience in telephone service using the Arris Cornerstone voice products gives us great confidence in their reliable and tested-to-scale solutions as we move into IP-based [Internet protocol] voice," Liberty chief technology officer Tony Werner said in a prepared statement.
