Liberty Media Corp. has taken a 5.6 percent stake in IDT Corp.'s IDT Media
division, activities of which range from animation to talk-radio
programming.
Liberty will pay $25 million for its IDT investment.
IDT Media's assets include controlling interest in Film Roman, the animation
work of which includes The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Showtime's
Free for All (which premieres next month) and Sci Fi Channel's upcoming
Tripping the Riff; Digital Production Solutions, a 3-D computer-animation
venture; and Talk America Radio Networks, offering syndicated programming on 700
radio stations.
Projects in development include more original cable series and desktop
news/information content, IDT Media CEO Mitch Burg said.
