Lifetime to Crown Queen for a Day

One-hour special Queen for a Day will air on Lifetime Television in June, the network said Tuesday.

Based on the TV show of the same name that aired from 1956-65 on NBC and later on ABC, Queen for a Day will choose four finalists from open auditions and take them to a studio in Los Angeles. They will receive "the royal treatment" while judges and a studio audience decide who should be the Queen.

"We plan to add an element of fun and create more drama and competition to the hour, while keeping the charm and spirit of the original," executive producer Phil Gurin said in a release.
