Lifetime Fighting the Odds with PSA

Lifetime Television will follow Lifetime Original Movie Fighting the Odds: The Marilyn Gambrell Story with an original public-service announcement featuring star Jami Gertz and Gambrell.

Fighting the Odds -- which premieres on Lifetime Monday at 9 p.m. (EST/PST) -- is the “true story of a former Texas parole officer who overcame extraordinary odds to establish No More Victims Inc., an in-school program for children of incarcerated parents in Houston,” the network said.

The PSA encourages involvement in communities to help kids in school avoid a life of violence and crime.

The network said that according to Department of Justice statistics, there are currently 1.1 million parents incarcerated across America, affecting some 2.3 million children, and these children are six times more likely to end up in prison at some point.

In addition to Gertz (Ally McBeal, Still Standing), Fighting the Odds also stars Ernie Hudson (Miss Congeniality, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous).
