Lifetime Leads Again in Primetime

The dog days of summer couldn't slow Lifetime Television's ratings momentum. The women-targeted network won the basic-cable primetime-ratings title again last week.

Lifetime averaged a 2.2 rating for the week of Aug. 13 through 19, easily beating kid-targeted services Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, which tied for second with 1.8 ratings, according to a Turner Entertainment Research analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.

ESPN — on the strength of a 4.4 rating for its Miami Dolphins-Tampa Bay Buccaneers preseason National Football League telecast — and TBS Superstation tied for fourth with 1.7 ratings.

On a total-day basis, Nickelodeon once again finished first with a 1.5 rating, followed by Lifetime (1.3), Cartoon (1.2), TBS Superstation (1.1) and Turner Network Television (1.0).

wrestling shows were the two most-watched programs of the week, averaging 5.2 and 5.1 ratings, respectively.

The two World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. shows were also the highest-rated programs among adults 18 through 49, although TBS Superstation was the most-watched network within the demo, averaging 1.03 million viewers during the week.
