Lifetime Television took the household crown, while TBS Superstation won the
race for adult demos in primetime last week.
The women's-oriented network averaged a 2.0 primetime rating from July 2
through 8, beating the 1.8 registered by TBS, according to a Turner
Entertainment Research analysis of Nielsen Media Research data. USA Network was
third with a 1.7, followed by Cartoon Network at a 1.6 rating. Nickelodeon and
A&E Network tied for fifth, each with a 1.5. Rounding out the top 10: Turner
Network Television with a 1.2 and Discovery Channel, American Movie Classics and
TNN: The National Network, all at a 1.0.
TBS set the pace with adults 18 through 49 and 25 through 54. Benefiting from
a trio of runs of Jackie Chan vehicle Rush Hour, as well as Jackie
Chan's First Strike, TBS delivered nearly 1.21 million adults 18 through 49
and 1.18 million 25 through 54 last week, according to the Turner analysis.
USA, Lifetime, TNT and Discovery ranked second through fifth, respectively,
among those adult sets.
According to Turner, TBS was also basic cable's leader with adults on a
total-day basis last week, averaging 742,000 among the 18-through-49 group and
680,000 with the older demo.
