A strong week for basic cable found Lifetime Television leading the
household-ratings race and USA Network wearing the primetime crown among key
adult demo groups.

Lifetime led the way June 10 through 16 with a 2.3 primetime average, topping
USA's 2.0. Turner Network Television and Cartoon Network were tied for third
with 1.9 averages, according to a Turner Entertainment Research analysis of
Nielsen Media Research data. Nickelodeon was fifth with a 1.8.

Rounding out the top 10: TBS Superstation with a 1.6; ESPN at a 1.3; TNN: The
National Network with a 1.1; and Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, FX and
Fox News Channel, all at a 1.0.

Boosted by the debut of Stephen King-based drama The Dead Zone --
which earned a 4.7 household rating, the best-ever premiere for an original
basic-cable series -- USA was first among adults 18 through 34, averaging
639,000 of those viewers for the week.

USA was also No. 1 among adults 18 through 49 and 25 through 54, garnering
1.31 million and 1.28 million of those watchers, respectively, during that
span.

MTV: Music Television (460,000), TNN (442,000), TNT (428,000) and Lifetime
(403,000) ranked second through fifth with the younger-adult set, while TNT
(1.05 million), Lifetime (998,000), TNN (822,000) and TBS (778,000) grabbed
those spots among the coveted adults 18-through-49 group.

Lifetime (1.145 million) edged TNT (1.142) for second among adults 25 through
54. TBS (833,000) and TNN (789,000) were fourth and fifth, respectively, with
that crowd.
