Lifetime Visits Cheerleader Nation

Lifetime Television is joining a high-school cheerleading team.

The network is going into production on reality series Cheerleader Nation (working title), which will chronicle “the roller-coaster relationship of mothers and their daughters on a high-school cheerleading team,” Lifetime said in a prepared statement.

“This is a story about 23 girls -- and 23 sets of parents,” Lifetime president of entertainment Susanne Daniels said in a prepared statement. “Filled with all the humor and heartbreak of adolescence, this series brings us into the lives of these competitive adolescent girls as they and their mothers struggle, together, to balance the difficult demands of high school.”

She continued, “Cheerleader Nation is as much about parenting as about cheerleading. It’s a perfect show for Lifetime, and we’re delighted to work with Laurie Girion and Fox Television Studios on this terrific project.”
