Cablevision Systems Corp.’s Lightpath business-telecommunications subsidiary has introduced a premium optical-bypass private-line service for New York-area enterprise customers.
The Metropolitan Continuity Service is designed to increase network availability by bypassing New York City for business applications running between New Jersey and Long Island.
The network uses optical long haul 1600 and optical metro 5200 platforms from Nortel Networks Inc. to transport Ethernet and 2.5 GHz/10 GHz wavelength-based services. The service allows Lightpath to bypass traditional switching centers in New York.
