Time Warner Cable subscribers in the Greater Los Angeles area will now be able to watch morning and dinnertime newscasts from the local NBC affiliate at their leisure.
The 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. news cycles from KNBC Channel 4 will be archived each day on Time Warner’s on-demand platform. Each broadcast will be available one hour after the live show ends, and it will remain archived for 22 hours.
This is Time Warner’s first local-broadcast partnership, but it’s not the first local broadcast/cable partnership. Adelphia Communications Corp.’s Orange County NewsChannel included broadcast reports from independent KCAL Channel 9 (now a Viacom Inc. broadcaster). That local news operation shuttered several years ago.
“NBC4News on Demand” will be available to digital-cable subscribers in Los Angeles and Orange County without extra charge on “On Demand Central” Channel 1.
