Mag Rack will take some of its original video-on-demand programming to the nation's homes away from home under a pact with LodgeNet Entertainment Corp.
LodgeNet's deal with the Rainbow Media Holdings Inc. venture gets Mag Rack into more than 1,200 hotels around the country, including properties owned by hotel chains Hilton Hospitality Inc., Radisson Hotels & Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. LLC and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc.
About 230,000 guest rooms are covered under the agreement.
Initially, Mag Rack will supply material from Wine World, Classic Cars, Motorcycle Freedom and Traveler's Guide -- four of the more than 30 video magazines offered to cable subscribers each month. Other titles may be added later on.
Rainbow will also introduce the Mag Rack hotel presentation with a special video touting VOD in general, and it will supply in-room promotional material among participating hotels and motels.
Other contract details were not released.
With hotel guests adjusting to on-demand TV, the Mag Rack relationship "broadens our digital offerings and further encourages guests to use LodgeNet's digital interactive-TV services," LodgeNet guest-services vice president Steve Truckenmiller said in a prepared statement.
Edward Palluth, Mag Rack's Eastern division senior VP, added that the LodgeNet deal puts his venture in position "to provide superior services to leisure and business travelers."
LodgeNet distributes various premium-, basic- and digital-cable services among its hotel clients, along with check-in/out and other interactive-video features.
