Nearly 3 million viewers tuned into Sunday night's season four premiere
episode of AMC'sdrama series Mad Men
The Matt Weiner-produced series drew 2.9 million total viewers, a 5% increase compared to the 2.8 million viewers the series generated for last summer's season three premiere and a 61% increase compared to the 1.8 million viewers the series averaged during its season three campaign, according to AMC.
The series has now posted audience increases for its season premiere episodes in each of its first four campaigns.
Mad Men, which has won consecutive Emmy Awards for best drama series, also garnered a 2.3 household rating for its season four premiere telecast -- an increase of 10% from the show's season three premiere and 62% over the overall season three numbers, said AMC.
