Madonna a Stand In for mtvU

mtvU is following up the Microsoft maven with the “Material Girl.”

Madonna surprised students in “Music,” “Film,” “Media Studies” and “Marketing” courses at Hunter College in New York as part of mtvU’s Stand In series.

Following a planned screening of her new documentary film, I’m Going to Tell You a Secret, Madonna surprised the class and led them in a question-and-answer session, offering personal insight on her career, her life and this latest personal milestone.

Last week, MTV Networks’ 24-hour college network announced that Microsoft Corp. chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates paid a surprise visit to the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s “Introduction to Programming” class to serve as substitute professor for the day.

The Stand In episode with Madonna will debut on mtvU Über (www.mtvu.com) via broadband Nov. 7, airing the following day on the linear network at noon (EST)/9 a.m. (PST).

Other Stand In guests have included Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.); Global YouthAIDS Ambassador and actress Ashley Judd; Basketball Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; music mogul Russell Simmons and Reverend Run; Nas and his father, Olu Dara; Snoop Dogg; Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.); Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt; and The Rev. Jesse Jackson.
