Liberty Media Corp. named Gregg Maffei president and CEO.
Maffei joined Liberty in November from Oracle Corp. -- where he was president and chief financial officer -- as a director and CEO-elect. At the time, Liberty said Maffei would assume the CEO position sometime in the second quarter of 2006.
Maffei replaces former Liberty president and CEO Robert “Dob” Bennett, who announced his retirement in August.
Liberty chairman John Malone, who had been serving as CEO since Bennett announced his retirement, will step down from that role but will remain chairman.
