Maguire Lands Digeo Sales Post

Kirkland, Wash.-Former Turner Network Sales executive Carter Maguire Jr. has surfaced at Digeo Broadband Inc. as vice president of sales.

"I believe Digeo will revolutionize the interactive TV space," Maguire said on his second day on the job last week. The company is working on an interactive TV content platform similar to America Online Inc.'s "AOL TV" and Excite@Home Corp.

Charter Communications Inc., which shares a common owner with Digeo in billionaire Paul Allen, plans to test the service soon.

Maguire will head Digeo's sales efforts to cable operators. Though Allen's investment in Digeo could be considered benign, his financial support of cable overbuilder RCN Corp. hasn't gone over well in some MSO quarters. It could present Digeo with some problems.

But Maguire is taking the high road.

"The whole approach is to be partners with the cable operators," he said. "I do believe the cable operator will look at this product for what it is."
