Digital publisher Mashable said it has acquired the rights to CineFix, a YouTube channel for movie buffs and filmmaker, from Whalerock Industries.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Mashable said CineFix, which features series such as Homemade Movies and Things You Didn’t Know, has more than 1.6 million YouTube subscribers. CineFix’s library currently spans more than 1,200 videos.

Mashable said those series, and others, will continue to be offered on CineFix’s own channels, as well as across Mashable’s owned-and-operated properties, social channels and distribution partners. The CineFix channel will also host new Mashable-produced franchises, initially including Trailer Mix, DIY Costume Squad, and Scene Stealers.

“CineFix is a natural fit with Mashable’s focus on entertainment, technology, and influential geek culture,” Gregory Gittrich, Mashable’s chief content officer, said in a statement. “We’re excited to expand the loyal and dedicated community that CineFix has created since its inception in 2012. Mashable Studios will provide more production resources and distribution to CineFix to support its already successful slate of series.”

Turner recently led a $15 million “C” round in Mashable, which also has video deals in place with Bravo and Telemundo.
