MavTV Maps Affiliate Pact with Alaska's MTA Communications

MavTV continues to build its presence in the largest state, inking a deal with MTV Communications.
Headquartered in Palmer, Alaska, MTA will join MavTV's distribution roster on July 1, ahead of the network's Independence Day introduction of its rebranded 'American Real' format, aimed at U.S. families living active lifestyles. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Formed in 1953, MTA's service area extends across nearly 10,000 square miles -- south to Eagle River, north to Anderson, east to Glacier View, and west to Skwentna.
"We are excited to have MavTV on board our ‘Big Dipper' package," said Samantha McKibbin, MTA communications manager in a statement. "MavTV's new 'American Real' programming brand and slate of new shows such as Bid America, Hi-Tech Redneck, Catch and Cook, Lynch for Hire, Motorhead Traveler,Angry Planet and motorsports hit right to our Alaskan, outdoors, rugged lifestyle audience."
"We are marketing a new brand identity while diversifying our programming mix so that we can expand our audience" noted MavTV president Bob Patison. "We are very pleased to join the MTA digital TV package because their customer base is what the new 'American Real' MavTV is all about."
Owned by Lucas Oil, MavTV's affiliate roster currently includes Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Dish, Cablevision Systems, Charter Communications, Verizon Communications, GCI, the National Cable Television Cooperative and the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative.
